Alyssa completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and emphasized in Physical Education and Exercise Science. Alyssa’s love for music began when she started taking piano and voice lessons at 10 years old, and grew as she learned more instruments including guitar, violin, bass, and ukulele. Alyssa participated in various music programs throughout middle and high school, including musical theatre, orchestra, jazz choir, and marching band. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys exploring San Diego, traveling, hiking, and going to the beach.
During Alyssa’s time at Seattle Pacific University, she was an active member of SPU’s Gospel Choir and also took voice, piano, and guitar lessons. Alyssa served as the music therapy program assistant where she took an administrative leadership position and organized the 10th anniversary event for the SPU music therapy program in the Fall of 2019. Alyssa advocated for state recognition of music therapy in Washington State by participating in numerous “Hill Days”, where she would meet with legislators to provide education regarding the efficacy of music therapy and the necessity of state recognition. Alyssa’s clinical experiences include children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, early childhood development, and older adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Alyssa completed her clinical internship with Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, where she provided music therapy services to terminally-ill patients with ranging diagnoses.

My goal in life has always been to help people and make a difference, and I love that music therapy is an accessible service that meets the needs of individuals in numerous ways. Music is a beautiful tool that allows us to reach various goals, and can be completely individualized to anyone!”
